A version of FRISK88MTM is available to conduct seismic hazard mapping. In this version the totality of faults and area sources is specified, as well as an area within which mapping is desired. The program proceeds through successive grid points in the mapping area, calculating and saving the mean and fractiles of hazard at each point. Several filters (e.g. on the maximum distance to consider for faults and area sources) allow the program to achieve efficiency during mapping operations. However, since the number of points in a mapping effort is usually large, the number of alternative assumptions on sources and ground motion equations is best kept small, to make computer run times reasonable.
